"It Will Be Politically Wrong for me to Remain in APGA"-Okorocha

Okorocha, APGA at war
I left party because it’s sectional –Gov
He begged to join us – Umeh
By IHEANACHO NWOSU, Abuja
Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha at the weekend gave reasons he dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he didn’t want to belong to a sectional party.
The governor said that he was left with no choice than to leave APGA as the latter exists only in the South-East and is in control of only Anambra State. He noted that it would be politically wrong for him to remain in such party. The governor spoke in Abuja during an interaction with some APC members.
But the APGA leadership dismissed Okorocha’s claim as baseless and vowed that he will pay dearly for his decision. National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, and National Secretary, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, said the governor’s days in office are numbered.

Umeh asked why Okorocha only realised that APGA is a sectional party that does not befit his political status after the he used the platform to win the Imo governorship in 2011. “Okorocha begged to be given APGA ticket in 2011, he won the election on the platform, he never questioned the spread of the party that time. This tells you about the political character of the man. He will regret the step he has taken either now or in 2015”, Umeh said.
Addressing party faithful, most of whom said they were chairmen of APGA in 22 states in the North, Okorocha said that he cannot realise his ambition to join forces with progressives in other parts of Nigeria to salvage the country from its  current state if he had remained in APGA.
